The good people at Stones Throw have put together a www.stonesthrow.com exclusive box load of shit you need to have if you’re a Madvillain fan to hold you down until the next Madvillainy album comes out.

To my understanding the music in this box set consists of 1 Madvillainy Remix album and 1 Madvillainy Demo cassette. The Demo actually made it onto the internet before the official release of Madvillainy back in 2003 and some lucky people including myself have a copy but a cassette tape of the demo (which looks great given the written tracklisting on the cassette cover…not sure if thats actually written on or printed tho. Regardless.) would be golden to have as a collectors item.

Heres a breakdown of what the box includes…

CD Madvillainy “2” The Madlib Remix. 25 tracks. Read more below.
7-INCH “One Beer (Drunk Version)” Madlib’s original 2004 version, lost until recently on the floor of his Bomb Shelter studio. If you saw the studio you’d understand.
CASSETTE The Madvillainy Demo Tape. 12 tracks, 36 minutes. This is the first and only official release of the infamous Madvillain demo that “leaked into cyberspace,” while the album was still in progress, as DOOM alludes to in the lyrics of “Rhinestone Cowboy.”
T-SHIRT Nominated. Best Rolled L’s. Madvillain shirt.
COMIC BOOK Meanwhile… the continuation of the All Caps video, included with the CD.
THE BOX 12×13x3 inches. Wrapped in silver like a mask.

All of this comes at the hefty price of $125 + shipping. Yikes. But then again, you are getting a lot of Madvillain collectible goodies. Nasir does what Curtis & Co. couldn’t…knocks Lil Wayne out the #1 Billboard spot, selling 187K in his first week sales. I disagree with Eskay’s humble opinion though, HHID > Nigger Untitled but I’ll save that for another post. I do agree with him on the fact that it’s not exactly the 354K that HHID did in it’s first week given all the hoopla surrounding the album titles and their respective generated buzz, but I don’t expect many albums to sell that much nowadays; let alone an album called Nigger Untitled. All in all, 187K isn’t a bad look for the homie Nas and it gives him his 5th #1 first week debut.

In other news, Nas wants to get together with Dr. Dre and DJ Premier and drop 2 albums produced entirely by each producer on the same day for his next albums. I would love to see a Nas x Premo album for the Hip Hop Heads like myself but I’m not holding my breath for anything Dr. Dre although that would probably be greatness as well. Then again, I doubt any of this will ever come to fruition. Only time will tell.

?uestlove has his own pair of Nike Air Force Ones. 25 Lucky people will get “the golden ticket” edition in their box with the top of the sneaker and toe box gold. I’m not big on AF1’s anymore but I’m a fan of the green elephant print.

Joe Budden - “Who?” Part 3

annnnd there it is. The final chapter to the “Who Killed Hip Hop?” Trilogy. This track is an automatic classic in my opinion because it speaks the truth and nothing but the truth over a great Marvin Gaye sample thats nice on the ears.

BUT…It’s Hip Hop and of course it’ll get overlooked by next week when the next Lil Wayne track leaks or some Retro-Hop garbage remix to something comes out. I will admit its a bit long to listen thru entirely but if you’re all about the lyrics then it won’t matter. Thank you Joey for this. They don’t can’t handle the truth, but they need to hear it!

Nine - “Lying King”

Not a good day for Ricky Raows. Spotted on Thankgodimfamous, The Smoking Gun confirms homeboy was indeed a Corrections Officer once upon a time.

Now like Miss Info brung up on her blog, I personally don’t find a problem with him being a cop in the past other than him denying it afterwards on some “They’re photoshopping my face on people, they’re mad I came out of no where and took over the game from some street shit and have it on smash” shit.

The fact that he was a cop isn’t the issue to me. Infact, none of this is really an issue with me. I take Rick Ross music for what it is. If its entertaining, I’ll bump it, if its wack, I’ll skip. I never bought into the whole “Drug Lord, Kingpin” facade they were trying to sell to me anyway. But homeboy brung all this upon himself once he denied it and insisted that he was 100% real with his past and his music.

Will this have much of an impact on his career? Probably not because I believe the people who listen to him aren’t listening for the “real” factor, they’re listening because they like the beats and the way he sounds over them. and the people who did believe he was a former drug kingpin are idiots and probably downloaded his shit anyway.

He probably would have got away with this if it was still the year 2000 but not in 2008 in the era of Youtube and when the internet is so powerful, especially for lifting skirts and pulling cards. You test someone and they will find the dirt under the rug. Lesson learned the hard way Baows! I’ll still listen if the music is entertaining and if not, I’ll keep it moving like before.

After Nas, Alife this time got together with Q-Tip. The t-shirts come with the “Lyrics To Go” slogan on the back and some of his lyrics on the front. The t-shirt comes in black and white.

The t-shirts will be released at the Rock The Bells tour, where Q-Tip performs with A Tribe Called Quest.

I have the Nas shirt so I won’t be too mad if I’m not able to snag this one but this would be GREAT to have. I’m sure as hell going to try.
